Holding On by a Thread

Stefonknee Wolscht is a transgender woman and Catholic father to seven amazing children, a mechanic and community leader. She known for her story of transitioning later in life and for her advocacy for transgender rights. Her memoir shares her struggles and challenges with depression, homelessness, isolation, and incarceration that she faced during her journey, because of transphobia, both internally and externally, as she navigated her gender identity..

Holding On by a Thread is a heartbreaking and eye opening memoir that combines the tragic consequences of transitioning later in life from male to female with the hopelessness of isolation and lost love. Set in the heart of a major city, Toronto, her story revolves around the Wolscht family and their struggle with Paul's transgender identity issues as she becomes Stefonknee.

Through the eyes of Stefonknee, readers are taken on a journey of discovery, suffering, and unexpected tragedy as she endeavors to create her new life as a woman in the twenty-first century. "Holding On by a Thread" is a beautiful memoir that captures the human spirit through the eyes of a persecuted transgender individual on the edge of society. The story focuses on exposing systemic shortcomings, inclusivity, and human perseverance. Through this book I’m hoping to give the reader a first hand glimpse into the hardships and joys of the trans community over the past fifty years.

It's important to approach discussions about transgender individuals with empathy and understanding, “Holding On by a Thread” teaches us why.

Stefonknee has been featured in three Canadian and four international transgender documentaries because she believes the life lessons she has learned about society need to be shared.

Please reach out to me when it is convenient so we can discuss next steps in this journey.

Thank you for your consideration,
